It takes subjects that were only touched on in the movie (The Circle of Life, dealing with loss, the passing of time, falling in and out of love, growing up in a dangerous world, loss of innocence, Nature Red in Tooth & Claw, Man's role in Nature), and takes them to a whole new level of beauty and terror. In some ways I do understand the frustration. I thought the love story was kind of cheap and not very thought out, but I still have it four stars because it was a nice read and a sweet story nonetheless. Some of the most popular areas are featured in a "super scale section" that shows even more detail. Then it suddenly takes a HUGE leap and we meet up with 20 year old Pollyanna, who has to deal with grown-up issues: death in the family, financial issues, how romance can affect friendships, etc. After having reading the other two books (I mentioned) I found this book interesting. I too praise the man but cannot recommend the book. The novel was adapted into a film, Ethan Frome, in 1993. Maugham makes many relevant points in this work, the most important being that a sensible person reads as a diversion and not a task. At first I wasn't interested in reading this book because I felt that I was not "Angry" but as I read I discovered that I was angry and suffered some of the same things but learned how to mask the pain. Gavin McInnes is a prankster, provocateur, comedian, and creator of contemporary, alternative pop culture. One pavilion is ominous in retrospect: dedicated to Deutscher Lebensraum.
